Hurriyet leader Javaid Mir met Pakistani Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah in New Delhi and discussed the prevailing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir with him on Monday.

A statement released by his spokesperson said that Javed Ahmad Mir discussed the current political situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, he thanked Pakistan for supporting the Kashmir cause morally and diplomatically. He said that Kashmir is an internationally recognised issue and its solution is necessary for peace in South Asia.

He deplored that Indian government and local authorities were implicating Kashmiri youth in fake cases.

“Our demand is genuine and based on historical facts. The people of Jammu and Kashmir must be given the right to self-determination so that they can decide their future on their own,” he added.

Javed Ahmad Mir is in New Delhi to undergo eye surgery.
