Former MQM leader Salim Shahzad arrested

Former leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Saleem Shahzad on Monday was arrested from Karachi Airport and shifted to airport police station.

Salim Shahzad is charged with facilitating and providing treatment to terrorists. The court had declared him proclaimed offender and ordered the immigration authorities to arrest him as soon as he arrives in Pakistan.

He arrived at Karachi Airport from Dubai on Monday and immigration authorities confiscated his passport therein and informed the police about his arrival. The police nabbed Salim Shahzad in immigration office and shifted him to airport police station.

Karachi Police Chief Mushtaq Mehar has also confirmed the arrest of Salim Shahzad. Malir SP Rao Anwar has said Salim Shahzad was allegedly involved in heinous offences therefore, he was taken into custody.

Dr Asim had also disclosed before JIT that Salim Shahzad had facilitated the terrorists in connection with their treatment.
