Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department Monday launched an eight-day anti-polio campaign in five districts of the province.

Talking to a private news channel, Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Coordinator, Akbar Khan, said that more than 0.55 million children under the age of five year would be vaccinated during the campaign.

He said 3,227 polio teams and 6,416 community mobilisers’ teams had been deployed for the drive.

The five districts include Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi. Akbar Khan said that successful efforts were being made to eradicate the crippling disease. The efforts had resulted in marked decrease in polio cases in the province compared to previous years, he added.
