Culture secretary reviews arrangements for conference on Mohenjodaro

 

 

Sindh Culture Secretary Ghulam Akbar Leghari chaired a meeting Monday and reviewed arrangements for the 3-day International Conference on Mohenjodaro and Indus Valley civilization.

The moot is schedule to be held from February 9-11 at Mohenjodaro, to be organized by the National Fund for Mohenjodaro and the Sindh Culture Department. The meeting was attended by Culture Director Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, Larkana Additional Commissioner-I Sultan Ahmed Khoso, Assistant Commissioners and officers of various departments.

The secretary informed the meeting that the conference was aimed at discussing new research on the Indus Valley civilization, the issues related to safeguarding the archaeological remains and preservation of the ruins.

He also told that we wanted to highlight once again the Mohenjodaro at global level. He told that in order to organize this conference in befitting manner, various arrangements were made regarding transportation, accommodation and security etc.

He told the meeting that the foreign experts and experts from all over the country would start arriving Mohenjodaro from February 8 and would express their views on Mohenjadaro. He also urged upon the police officials that all out efforts should be made to ensure the security for the participants by beefing up the security measures for the event.

The secretary directed Special Branch officers to install walk-through gates at the entry gates of Mohenjodaro for security. He also directed SEPCO/WAPDA authorities to ensure smooth supply of power during the conference.

He also directed the officials of Health Department to set-up a camp at the site of Mohenjodaro with provision of health facilities including ambulances, medical teams consisting male and female doctors, para-medical staff and medicines.
