Justice Azmat Saeed discharged from hospital

Rawalpindi: Justice Azmat Saeed has finally been discharged from the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology after having suffered a heart attack on January 31.

Doctors had earlier advised the judge one more week of bed rest after he underwent angiography, angioplasty and stent placement. The doctors have expressed satisfaction with his recovery and his next check-up is scheduled for a week from now.

The senior justice is one of the members of a 5 person panel of the Supreme Court which is hearing the Panama leaks case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children. The proceedings of the affair, which had previously been a daily affair, have once more been delayed owing to the health of Justice Azmat.

The proceedings of the panel, which is deliberating the fate of the Prime Minister and his family, including possible disqualification from office, have for now been delayed. There is no clarity as to when the case will continue and whether a replacement will be sought for the ailing judge, whose recovery up until now has been promising.
