CM pledges to combat corruption, vows to hold officials accountable

Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government has been striving for autonomous, independent and prosperous Pakistan by adopting zero-tolerance against corruption, intercession and nepotism.

The chief minister expressed these views while talking to members of assembly from different districts.

The chief minister said that the government has succeeded in promoting the merit culture at every level, “it is the only key to success, our education and other policies in the province are depicting merit”, he added.

The chief minister boasted that even the international organisations have acknowledged transparency in the government policies.

The CM said that moderate progress strategy has been adopted to complete development projects, and mega projects of billion rupees would be initiated at prioritised basis in under-developed areas for the prosperity of South Punjab.

The CM said that the Multan Metro Bus Project has provided people with economical, standard and comfortable travelling facilities, and all the projects of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were self-explanatory precedents of transparency, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said, “The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) whenever gets into power brings prosperity for its people and provides all-out resources and funds for public welfare projects”.

The CM criticised sit-in groups and blamed them of hindering country’s development,

“In 2018 we will witness Public victory once again which will prove fatal for sit-in trend setters’ whose politics totally relies on leveling baseless allegations on others, impeachment, insurgency and hypocrisy”, he added.

Shehbaz Sharif vowed that the corrupt officials would be held accountable.

“Pakistan is changing in terms of prosperity and growth however politically devoid politicians are still the same”, he lamented.

DRINKING WATER PROGRAMME:

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting to review the roadmap of the Clean Drinking Water Programme in South Punjab.

Provincial Minister (Housing) Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari, Water Company (North) Chairman MNA Major (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, and the Planning and Development chairman, secretary (Housing), German consultant, experts of water sector and the concerned officials attended the meeting.

While addressing the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that the project has been setup in 06 tehsils of South Punjab and soon would be extended to additional 31 tehsils. The CM said, “Access to clean drinking water is basic right of every citizen as clean water so the government is vigilant to provide citizens with their basic rights”.

The chief minister said that the work on development project has been going on professionally, transparently and speedily,

The CM directed the experts to present the final roadmap, design and planning work of the project at its earliest.
