Seven reports of standing bodies presented in NA

The National Assembly session started at the Parliament House on Tuesday at 10:30 am with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran and Naat.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was in the chair. The agenda included calling attention notices, introduction of bills, legislative business, motions, presentation of reports of the standing committees, motions, resolutions and amendment to the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the National Assembly.

As many as seven reports of various standing committees including Law and Justice and Human Rights were presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday. Standing Committee on Law and Justice Chairman Chaudhary Mahmood Bashir Virk presented six reports in the house. These reports included to amend further the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 [The Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015, the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015, moved by MNA Tariqullah, the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2015 moved by Dr Arif Alvi, the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2016 (Amendment in Article 11) and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2015) (Amendment in Article 175).

Similarly, Surriya Asghar on behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on Human Rights Babar Nawaz presented the report on the National Commission on the Status of Women (Amendment) Bill 2016 in the House. The National Assembly offered Fateha for the departed souls of victims of terrorists attack on a mosque in Canada. Qari Muhammad Yousaf led the Fateha on the request of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. They prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.

Two groups of students and faculty members from Beaconhouse F-7/4 campus Islamabad and Joint Forces School and College Haripur on Tuesday visited the National Assembly and witnessed the House’s proceeding. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq made announcement about their presence in the guests’ gallery when the parliamentarians were presenting their bills in Lower House of the Parliament.

Parliamentarians welcomed them by thumping desk. They observed lawmakers taking up calling attention notices, introducing bills, presenting motions and periodical reports besides holding debate on various issues of public interest.
