Supreme Court’s Senior Judge Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed underwent successful angioplasty at Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC), as he was rushed to the armed forces institute last night after chest pains.
RIC Head Maj. Gen. (retd) Azhar Kayani said, “Justice Saeed’s health is now stable as he has been shifted to the ward after angioplasty. He has been advised a complete rest at least for a week.”
According to doctors, Justice Saeed suffered a heart attack.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and other judges visited the hospital and enquired after the health of their colleague.
Justice Azmat Saeed is part of a five-member SC bench that is hearing the Panama leaks case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children on daily basis.
The bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, is comprised of Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan.
The bench is hearing petitions seeking disqualification of the prime minister over the investments made in offshore companies by members of his family.
The hearing may be postponed for today (Wednesday) due to the ailment of the judge; however, no decision for any change in the bench has so far been taken.
