Careem, Uber not banned, says Sindh transport minister

Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Syed Nasir Hussain has assured that mobile app ride services – Careem and Uber – in the province will continue to ply, but they need to follow the rules and regulations.

He was answering a call attention notice raised by the MPA Jamal Ahmed that private cars were plying in Karachi in the name of Careem and Uber as commercial vehicles. He said whether legal permission had been issued to these by the concerned department.

“We do not want to deprive the people by banning these services but these companies have to follow the rules and regulations,” replied the minister.

The minister said that corporate sector in other countries pursue the law where it works but here in Sindh, it avoids from doing the same. These services will not be banned in Sindh.
