Preparatory work for the census is in full swing across the district and arrangements for holding the population and housing census in the district has been finalised.
A meeting held here on Wednesday to review the arrangements for the census chaired by Naushaharo Feroze Deputy Commissioner Dr Wasim Ali was informed that polling staff for the purpose have been designated all over the district to carry out census activities.
According to a handout issued here on Wednesday, the deputy commissioner asked all assistant commissioners to thoroughly study the operation plan so that no issues arise during the census.
“All assistant commissioners and other related staff must attend the 4-day training programs to be started from February 6”, Wasim Ali said, adding that there would be no permission of carelessness. He further asked them to review entire staff lists in collaboration with the district education officer and taluka education officers.
He also directed the additional district health officer to make arrangements for ambulances along with medical teams and medicines for the campaign.
Addressing the meeting, Colonel Muhammad Zia said that 1,250 army personnel would be deputed in the district to assist in census activities. “One teacher, a soldier from the army, and two police personnel would be part of the census team,” he said.
Earlier, the district statistical officer told the meeting that the district was divided into 20 charges, out of which 12 were urban and 8 were rural.
Training for each census circle will be organised for staff from February 6 to March 6, house enlistment operations will start from April 27, while the counting of homeless people will be begin from May 8.
