Opposition Leader Mehmoodur Rasheed alleges CM violated oath

Law Minister Sanaullah says govt won’t succumb to PTI’s pressure tactics

 

The opposition on Monday caused a commotion in the Punjab Assembly, halting the sessions’ proceedings.

According to details, PTI lawmakers of tore the copies of the agenda of the day amid the slogan, ‘go Nawaz go’, while Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was disqualified.

“The CM violated the oath and he must come to the house this August to clear his position in front of lawmakers,” Rasheed said.

In response, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the opposition had become no less than a pressure group and the government would not succumb to PTI’s pressure tactics. The reference against the CM should not be discussed in the house but only in the chamber of the speaker, added the minister.

Continuing his speech amid commotion, Sanaullah said, “The day of general discussion on agriculture was decided after getting consent from the opposition and it was decided in the meeting of Business Advisory Council that this important sector will come under discussion today (Monday), but the PTI is not coming out from its ‘container attitude’ both inside and outside of parliament”.

“The PML-N will bury the negative politics of our opponents in the elections of 2018 with the support of farmers,” he added.

While the law minister was delivering his speech, the slogan “Gali Gali mein shor hy, donon bhai chor hein” (It is being discussed in every nook and corner that both the brothers [Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif] are thieves) echoed all over the Punjab Assembly building.

During the question-hour session, Khawaja Imran Nazir responded to the questions related to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, and assured the House that after May, 2017 there would not be any district headquarters hospital without a CT-Scan machine, whereas several questions were marked as pending questions and several were disposed of.

The session proceedings were adjourned till Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a 35-member inter-parliamentary delegation also visited the Punjab Assembly and witnessed the proceedings. These included Nuzhat Sadiq and Taj Haider from the Senate, Khalil George and Shazia Sobia Aslam from the National Assembly, Mahes Milani, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi and Naheed Begum from the Sindh Assembly, Noor Salim Marwat, Arifa Siddique, Nasraullah Khan Zehri and Shahida Rauf from the Baluchistan Assembly and Uzma Khan, Mehmood Jan and Askar Pervaiz from the KP Assembly.
