Challan declares additional sessions judge wife as prime accused in Tayyaba torture case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday (today) forwarded Tayyaba’s torture case to the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case during which the judges expressed resentment over not presenting case challan in the court.

Islamabad Advocate General told the court that the submission of challan was delayed due to pre-arrest bail of the accused and assured to present it till Wednesday.

In the challan, additional sessions judge wife Maheen Zafar has been declared as prime accused while the judge has also been alleged of negligence.

Meanwhile, lawyer of Tayyaba’s parents has requested the court to give custody of the kid to the family over which, the court said that the child will live in Sweet Home until the final verdict of the case.

CJP said that girl’s parents can meet her at Sweet Home if they want.

He also consulted with Asma Jahangir regarding sending the matter to high court on which, she said that SC can forward the case to IHC as per RPC’s article 526.

Subsequently, the court has adjourned the case for two weeks and referred it to the high court.
