Waqas, a jawan of armed forces who had sustained injuries in attack on a security forces check post at Rajgaal area of Tirrah succumbed to his injuries in a military hospital, here on Monday.
Waqas was injured when the militants attacked the check post at Rajgaal, Tirrah, late on Sunday night. The attack was so sever and the militants used modern and sophisticated weapons against the forces.
However, the personnel of security forces retaliated and succeeded in repulsing the attack. The militants escape from the scene. Waqas was severely injured and soon after the attack, he was airlifted to Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed death of Waqas. Later, Namaz-e-Janaza of Waqas was offered at Peshawar. Beside others, the corps commander and the FC IG attended his funeral.
Meanwhile, the chief of army staff also paid glowing tributes to martyr Waqas.
Security forces are engaged in military action against militants also in Tirrah valley of Khyber Agency along with North Waziristan. The sources claimed that the military actions were successful and led to destabilisation of militants’ network and were forcing the militants to flee. However, violent and terror acts were taking place from time to time in the region.
