Punjab Home Department issues threat alert

Punjab Home Department has issued a threat alert and asked to beef up security of all the judiciary, its buildings/residences all over the country to avoid any untoward incident.

According to the Home Department, it is learnt that TTS is training young boys (10-12 years) as suicide bombers in Kunar, Afghanistan for various cities of Pakistan. “One such suicide child bomber destined for Lahore, revealed that a school (double story) near Abdali Chowk, Lahore was his target. “It is requested that security of all the judiciary, its buildings/residences all over Pakistan may be beefed up to avoid any untoward incident,” the Home Department said.

Available copy of threat alert issued by the Home Department suggested the extreme vigilance and heightened security measures to avoid any untoward incident. The threat alert suggested extreme vigilance and fool proof/heightened security measures at all tiers be ensured to avoid any untoward incident. Regular combing/search operation and extensive vigilance in the targeted area/establishment be carried out, especially where Afghan/Pathan community is residing. Adjacent areas/sites and related issues to the specified/indicated target may also be given complete security cover. Snap checking at police pickets be carried out.

The threat alert further suggested the activities of persons connected with proscribed organizations be closely monitored. Regular police patrolling in all sensitive/important areas be carried out. Close coordination amongst all intelligence agencies and timely information to ensure protection of important installations. Strict and indiscrimination physical search/scanning/checking of all security staff and officials of important organizations at entry gates even if wearing official uniform must be ensured.

Similarly, strict physical checking of all persons and baggage be conducted at entry points/gates of all important establishments. Also, security instructions issued by the department from time to time be implemented in true letter and spirit.
