Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif submitted his reply in the court against the defamation case of Rs30 billion filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)’s Secretary General, Jahangir Tareen, in a local court.

According to details, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ), Kamran Basharat Mufti, on Saturday conducted the hearing of the defamation case. The counsels of both parties have appeared before the court. The court had sought a reply from the CM while issuing a notice, including a stay order on the defamation case.

The counsel of CM Shehbaz, Mustafa Ramday, submitted the reply in court which states that petitioner Jahangir Tareen is the director and shareholder of two major companies and wrote off loans.

It is worth mentioning here that Jahangir Tareen had filed a defamation suit worth Rs30 billion against Shehbaz Sharif on levelling allegation of writing off loans.

The defamation case states that CM Shehbaz on April 25, 2016, during his address in public meeting, levelled a baseless allegation against Tareen of writing off loans, and repeated the same allegations in a press conference on October 26 instead of apologising.
