Kaabil likely to hit Pakistani cinemas today

Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil is expected to release in Pakistan on Friday after it received clearance from the authorities.

“Hum Films has received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for screening Kaabil, and it will be released in the country soon,” officials of the private enterprise told local media.

Furthermore, a Hum Films official confirmed, “Kaabil will release in cinema screens all over Pakistan on January 27.”

However, showtimes on local cinema websites like Atrium Cinemas show that the film is expected to release on January 28.

However, Central Board of Film Certification chairman Mobashir Hasan told local media that despite the NOC, the film was subject to clearance from the censor board.

The action thriller’s screening will mark the end of the informal ban on Bollywood films in Pakistan.

Following ‘surgical strikes’ across the Line of Control, cinema owners in September 2016 had decided not to screen Indian movies until tensions between two countries recede.

The ban was announced by various cinema owners late September in response to the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA)’s ban on Pakistani actors, singers and technicians from working in India till “normalcy” returns. The ban from India was a reaction to the Uri attacks in Kashmir.

Kaabil stars Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam in a story about a blind man on a mission to avenge the murder of his girlfriend. The film has been helmed by Jazbaa director Sanjay Gupta. It was released in India on January 25.

With Kaabil coming out, we now just wait for the release of Shah Rukh and Mahira Khan’s Raees.
