Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the recent report released by Transparency International (TI) from Berlin has endorsed the transparency policy of the current government and this report is a matter of pride not only for the government but also the 200 million people of Pakistan.
He said the report has proved that the government has promoted transparency at every level and it is a matter of pleasure that Pakistan stands second after China with regard to the decrease in corruption.
In a statement released here on Wednesday, the chief minister said that the report was an approval of the efforts of the Pakistani government and nation to control corruption.
According to the report of Transparency International, Pakistan has improved nine degrees, jumping to the 116th position out of 176 countries in the transparency perception index.
He said besides efforts to control corruption, the government has taken effective measures to promote transparency and merit due to which image of Pakistan has improved at international level.
