Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that the government has granted Rs480 billion to independent power producers (IPPs) and that these are the same people who raised funds for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during general elections.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court (SC) after the hearing of Panama Leaks case, PTI’s chairman said that the counsel of Maryam Nawaz has clearly told that apex court during the hearing that she is not owner of flats and is independent. Maryam Nawaz herself admitted that neither she nor her any family member has any property abroad.

“The government has filed a case in the Election Commission to fool the masses and pronounced that the law states that one who has been accused should present evidence,” he added and maintained that all the relatives of Sharif family must be interrogated as the money from which the flats were bought belongs to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said that this is the base of our case and we have showed the money trail, he added.

PTI chief said that those who are accusing him have their own issues in a tangled and twisted situation.

‘Moto gang’

A journalist asked the PTI chief before the commencement of Panama Leaks case hearing about a word he often uses: ‘Moto Gang’. He asked as to who these people are.

Khan said that uses the term ‘moto gang’ for those people who are defending Sharif family and are taking salaries from public taxes.

Nawaz Sharif’s money is involved

Imran Khan said that had the revelation not been made in the Panama Leaks, they [Sharifs] would never have accepted that they owned the London flats.

“We have never stated that there were cases against Maryam Nawaz. We have always maintained that Nawaz Sharif’s money is involved in the London flats,” he said.

He added that since 1993 the ownership of London flats has not been changed.

PTI Spokesperson Naeem-ul-Haque said that no gains will be made by filing a case in the Election Commission of Pakistan.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the Panama Leaks case had reached its final phase. “Now the prime minister’s children will have to explain how they got rich.”

Some people like to lie

State Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzeb said that false allegations were being hurled at the Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz. She said, “Some people like to lie outside the Supreme Court. Imran Khan is basing his politics on Panama Papers.”

PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz said that Imran Khan was being disrespectful towards institutions. “The prime minister was elected by the people of Pakistan thrice.”

During the proceedings on Monday, the court questioned links of the prime minister with the Sharif family’s business.
