Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Lahmeyer’s Chief Executive Officer Bernd Metzger discussed the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector in a meeting held here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is working on the several energy projects with diligence and many of them are in the final stages of completion. “Besides working on conventional power projects, the government is also focusing on alternative methods of power production,” the chief minister said.
He said that work on the energy projects is continuing speedily and with the completion of all these projects, that load shedding will soon be eliminated. He said that the Potohar region and other areas have the potential for small dams and further steps could be taken after reviewing the study of the German company on the small dams for irrigation purposes.
The members of the German delegation said that they were pleased to enhance cooperation with the government of Punjab on the power projects.
Lahmeyer Hydro Power and Water Resources Division Executive Director Bernhard Stabel, planning and development chairman, energy secretary and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
