Law, order situation significantly improved: Sindh governor

Acting Sindh Governor Agha Siraj Durrani said on Tuesday that law and order situation in the province has improved significantly due to sustained efforts of law enforcement agencies.

Talking to Radio Pakistan he said the operation against militants would continue till the elimination of last militant. Agha Siraj further said that the corrupt officers would not be forgiven at any cost as the government officers were servants to the masses.

“There is sharp decline in target killing, extortion, robberies and dacoities in Karachi after which people are passing their social and business life with peace” he claimed. He said the provincial government was working on different development projects in which K-IV water project was very important for the people of Karachi.

This project would help solve drinking water shortage problem in the city, he added.

Later talking to a delegation of business community led by the President of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Zubair Tufail at Governor House, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani said that the business community was the integral part of economy of any country as it not only contributed to the national exchequer but also created employment in abundance.

Other delegation members included SM Muneer CEO TDAP, Khalid Tawab, Irfan Sarwana, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Mazhar A Nasir, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Ahmed Chinoy, Dhani Bux, Mumtaz Shaikh and Shakeel Dhingra.

Durrani further said that present government was aware of the significance of business community and their input would be taken into consideration while making provincial budget. Suggestions should be submitted in this regard in writing so as to incorporate the same, he added.

He said that business community had to play a pivotal role in making CPEC projects a success as it would be a game changer in the region. Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) had also been included in CPEC and it would be completed to facilitate Karachiites for improved travelling, he opined.

He said that after 18th Amendment Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) had been assigned the task to collect various taxes and duties and it was working in close corporation with business community.

He assured them of his full cooperation and solution to their problems. The delegation thanked the acting governor for patient listening and assurances.
