LAHORE: The Punjab Aids Control Programme organised a month-long free medical camp for diagnosis and awareness of HIV, Hepatitis B and C to the truck and bus drivers.
Punjab Goods Transport Association President Ch Zulfiqar Ali, Vice-Chairman Chaudhry Ahmed Ali, and other office bearers Mohammad Aslam, Rana Faqir Khan and Aftab Khan, the officials of the Punjab Aids Control Program and the others attended the starting ceremony on Tuesday.
The Punjab Aids Control Programme has started similar camps at Ravi Truck Station in Sargodha and plans to expand the scope to the other districts as well.
Goods Transport Association president welcomed the initiative by the Punjab Aids Control Programme and said that these medical facilities were much needed for the drivers and urged the drivers to avail the free tests’ facility.
A spokesman of the Punjab Aids Control Programme said, “The programme’s aim is to raise awareness about HIV and to provide free treatment to the patients”.
