KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) MPA Nusrat Sahar Abbasi threatened on Monday she will set herself on fire if Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Imdad Pitafi is not removed as the provincial minister in the next two days.
She demanded PPP remove Imdad Pitafi from the post of minister for using abusive language against her during a Sindh Assembly session.
“If I don’t get justice within the next two days, I will set myself on fire outside the Sindh Assembly,” the MPA said while addressing the media in Karachi.
“I am giving two-day ultimatum. I will set myself ablaze if I am not given justice,” she threatened while carrying a bottle of petrol, adding Pitafi’s apology is not acceptable to her.
Pleading to the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto and his sister Bakhtawar Bhutto for justice, she alleged that this was not just her personal matter now but an issue for all women who were harassed at workplaces.
Although Imdad Pitafi has apologised to Nusrat Sahar for his comments, Nusrat Sahar refused to let go of the matter until an inquiry is carried out against the services minister.
“I am giving two-day ultimatum. I will set myself ablaze if I am not given justice,” she threatened while carrying a bottle of petrol, adding Pitafi’s apology is not acceptable to her.
If she sets herself on fire, she will be needlessly wasting her life; apart from a day's worth of newspaper headlines and couple of days worth of talk shows, all will be forgotten as if it never happened. The lady must realize, she is living in a country where ethics and morals have long been dead and berried, nothing shocks this benumbed and unfeeling nation anymore. Mother have ended their lives along with their children because of poverty and hunger, what did this nation do? Absolutely nothing, because human life has neither value nor worth in this nations mindset and culture.
