United States President Donald Trump sat through a Holy Quran recitation on Saturday as part of an inaugural service.

All Dulles Area Muslim Society executive director Imam Mohamed Magid was expected to give the call to prayer at an interfaith religious service for Trump but recited two verses from the Holy Quran instead.

“O humankind, We have created you from a single male and female (Adam and Eve) and made you into nations and tribes and communities, that you may know each other. Really, the most honoured of you in the sight of God is the one most righteous of you, and God has full knowledge…”

With the president sitting alongside his wife, the imam read another verse, “And among the signs of God is the creation of heaven and earth, and the variation in your languages and your colours. Verily, in that are signs for those who know.”

Trump became the 45th president of United States last week. The 70-year-old Republican billionaire placed his left hand on a bible used by Abraham Lincoln and recited the 35-word oath dating back to the George Washington era before delivering a much-anticipated inaugural address.
