The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has found five milk samples to be adulterated after an inspection was conducted on Sunday.
According to the details, the raiding team constituted for monitoring the supply and quality of milk inspected 110 milk shops, and five challans have been submitted to the court for further proceedings.
The administration is adopting measures to the control the sale of contaminated and adulterated milk under Pure Food Ordinance 1960.
Special teams have been constituted for the purpose, comprising the district health officer, assistant commissioners, and sanitary inspectors for the drive against milk adulteration.
An awareness campaign targeting dairy farmers has been launched, highlighting the side effects of the often used oxytocin injections which are used to increase milk production.
Free weekly camps and awareness campaigns have also been launched in the more remote areas of the ICT jurisdiction.
