Lahore: A non-governmental organisation (NGO) South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK) has been banned from operating in Layyah district of Punjab because of its ‘anti-state agenda’.

District Officer Social Welfare and BaitulMaal Layyah issued a notification stating, ” It has been informed by the Ministry of Interior, Islamabad that reportedly South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK) has been observed working in south Punjab pursuing anti-state agenda.”

The NGO prepared a shadow report of sharing with UN Human Rights Commission presenting a very bleak picture of human rights situation in Pakistan, forgetting directly the measures taken in context of NAP and operation Zarb-e-Azab.

By the means of this notification, the SAP-PK, which is the sole South Asian NGO working in Pakistan, has been banned from working in Layyah.
