ISLAMABAD: The second phase of Benazir Income Support Programme’s (BISP) resurvey has been scheduled to start by the end of the current month and would cover 12 districts.
The districts to be covered in a door to door approach included Jacobabad, Thatha, Mohmand Agency, Gilgit, Mirpur, Layyah, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Kech, Qila Saifullah, Lakki Marwat and Charsadda, an official of BISP told APP.
The activity will continue till May for which survey firms have been hired and training of staff was being conducted.
Initially, the data of people living below the poverty line had been collected through desk approach using the self-registration method, an official said.
The BISP has covered average 92 percent of the intended population under the desk approach in four districts in accordance with the international standard of 60 percent of the population coming for registration on the desk.
He said that the desk approach is scheduled to be completed in most of the places by the end of January.
He urged the remaining people to get registered so that registration for National Socio -Economic Registry (NSER) update may be maximised.
He informed that as a feedback mechanism, the BISP intends to test the viability of desk approach by seeking feedback from all the stakeholders including the respondents as well as the elected representatives.

The official said the number of beneficiary households, receiving financial assistance from BISP has increased to approximately 5.4 million.
