Bacha Khan University attack: students, faculty observe 1st anniversary

PESHAWAR: The first anniversary of terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University was observed by its students and teachers on Friday.

In connection with the anniversary, the university administration arranged a ceremony to commemorate the martyrs.

Former provincial minister and Pakistan Tehrik Insaaf MPA Shaukat Ali Yousafzai along with a fellow MPA Arif Ahmadzai from Chardsada attended the ceremony.

Presently, Bacha Khan University Charsada is one of six universities’ of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa functioning without the vice- chancellor.

Former vice chancellor Dr Fazal Rahim Marwat, when contacted by this scribe, informed that he could not attend the ceremony due to illness.

Quran Khwani was arranged for the departed souls of those killed in the attack.

Shaukat Ali Yousafzai was unable to conclude his speech because of the interruption from the students who were protesting against the government’s failure to act against terrorism.
