LGH establishes urogynaecology centre

LAHORE: In order to provide medical solutions to women health problems, urogynaecology centre for the outdoor patients has been established at Lahore General Hospital.

Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begam Zakia Shahnwaz inaugurated the centre on Thursday.

Prof Ghiyas-Un-Nabi Tayyab, Post Graduate Medical Institute principal, Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons President Mumtaz Ahmed among the others attended the ceremony.

The principal and the other doctors told on this occasion that this centre would be very helpful for the treatment of pre and post childbirth complications faced by the mother in the same vicinity. Both urologists and gynaecologists would be available at the same time and patients would not be bothered to be referred to other departments.

In her address, the minister said that proper pause between births of children is essential for mother and child health, a large number of women and children in Pakistan are facing  food shortage and an effective awareness campaign among women is required in this connection so as to sensitise them about taking good food during pregnancy, she added.

The event was also addressed by healthcare experts.
