The Sindh Assembly commenced its session on Wednesday with prayers for the departed souls of late Governor of Sindh, Justice (retd) Said uz Zaman Siddiqui, Junaid Jamshaid, and religious scholar Maulana Saleemullah Khan.
According to a copy of the agenda for Wednesday, a bill pertaining to Zakat and Usr is to be adopted, extending powers to district councils for appointing Zakat committee chairmen across the province.
The session will also include questions and answers related to the anti-corruption department and an adjournment motion on the establishment of medical colleges in the province.
Meanwhile, Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro responding to the misgivings of the opposition parties in the province said that the government had no plan to end the Karachi operation launched in September 2013.
Assuring them that the operation is still underway, Khuhro said that the required notifications will be issued soon.
Information Adviser to the Chief Minister Moula Bux Chandio alleged that certain politicians were trying to blow the matter out of proportion.
“The summary is under process and the powers will be given soon,” he told journalists.
The Sindh Assembly in its current session will also debate the forced conversion bill that was passed in November last year.
However, it was returned by the then governor Justice (r) Saeed uz Zaman Siddiqui with suggestions for reconsideration.
