A student of the Punjab University Law College was abducted from his hostel room and thrashed, for allegedly tweeting in favour of the missing activists and bloggers.

According to reports, the student identified as Sohail was abducted by around 15 people from his hostel at a time when the guards were on duty.

The student had allegedly tweeted in support of the missing activists and bloggers and also shared a poem of Faiz Ahmad Faiz to express solidarity with him.

The victim told media that the goons put a blanket over him and continued thrashing him for quite some time before taking him to the hostel’s courtyard.

Suhail said he was crying for help but no security guard came forward to rescue him. He was released near Mustafa Town after three hours on the intervention of some leaders of the IJT’s parent political party.

The victim was tortured brutally and has been admitted to hospital for treatment.

The PU spokesman said VC Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir had ordered a probe into the matter and a case would be registered against the culprits.
