An expo centre will be developed in the federal capital with a total cost of Rs. 2,500 million to provide international standard infrastructure for the promotion of economic activities through trade exhibitions, consumer fairs and conferences in Islamabad.
This was informed at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Commerce on Tuesday presided over by Siraj Muhammad Khan. A sum of Rs. 300 million has been allocated for the project in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2016-17.
The Ministry of Commerce has asked the CDA to allocate a suitable piece of land measuring 30-40 acres in Islamabad for the project that needs budgetary allocation of Rs. 1,600 million in the financial year 2017-18.
An expo centre will also be developed in Peshawar at a cost of Rs. 2,500 million. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has allocated 200 kanals of land along the GT Road, Tarnab, for the project.
Expo Centre in Quetta will also be constructed with a cost of Rs. 2,700 million.
