The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday (today) dismissed a disqualification petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
The top electoral body dismissed the petition for PTI chief’s disqualification over the petitioner’s absence during hearing of the plea.
Petitioner Hashim Ali Bhutta, in his plea had said the PTI leader did not mention his Bani Gala residence and London flats in his asset declaration. “Imran Khan has failed to abide by Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution,” the petitioner maintained.
However, the ECP dismissed the petition since Bhutta did not appear for the hearing. The ECP had earlier dismissed the same petition filed by Bhutta but it was later restored after reconsideration.
ECP would have loved to disqualify IK on their masters instruction even on a lame duck evidence, but everything backfired, Either Ali Bhutta fell out with Nawaz Sharif or he did not have even a lame duck evidence.
