Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that agriculturists who work day and night to grow crops are “my brothers”.

“The welfare of these agriculturalists is my first priority and the PML-N government has safeguarded the interests of these agriculturalists at all levels, and will not allow anyone to work against the interests of farmers,” he added.

The chief minister expressed these views while talking to Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Nishat Ahmad Daha during their meeting.

For the betterment of small farmers and to increase per acre yield, the government has introduced a historical Kissan package, he said, adding the initiatives taken by the present government regarding this sector have never been seen before in the history of the country.

“We are dedicated to improving the agricultural sector and the lives of those people associated with it. Agriculture is considered as the backbone of any economy, and for the economy to strengthen, development of agriculture sector and welfare of farmers is necessary,” he said. “Punjab Agricultural Commission has been formed not only for the welfare of agriculturalists but also to formulate sound agricultural policies which will surely benefit in the future.”

“Farmers have been given sufficient representation in the commission to ensure the protection of their interests.”

The chief minister said that the problems of the people could not be resolved by mere words, “the solution lies in practical actions”.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan is progressing rapidly, and in the coming 18 months, the fortune of the country will be changed, he added.

In all the projects of the present government, he said, quality, timing and transparency has been ensured, and these projects are ample proof of transparency.

“The people of Pakistan have rejected the mission of those who wanted to halt the economic progress of the country by locking down Islamabad, and the future attempts of such people will remain futile,” the CM said.
