PM Nawaz to attend WEF’s annual meeting

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will participate at annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos.

WEF Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab has extended the invitation to the prime minister to attend the four-day meeting beginning from Tuesday.

However, the premier is expected to depart for Switzerland on Monday (tomorrow).

Former chief of army staff General (retd) Raheel Sharif will be speaking at the four-day annual meeting.

According to reports, the prime minister will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with heads of states, as well as with business leaders on the sidelines of the meeting.

Among others, he will meet the United Nations new Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Swiss President Ms. Doris Leuthard, at Davos.

The prime minister will address a large group of about 60 top business leaders on “Investing in Pakistan: The New Reality”.

In addition, he will have round table meeting in which the prime minister will share, with a select group of business leaders, the dramatic economic changes taking place in Pakistan and the immense investment and trade opportunities that are opening up in the country.

The theme for the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting is “Responsive and Responsible Leadership”.

Nawaz Sharif’s participation in the event would help project Pakistan as a prime destination for business, investment, and trade.

Former army chief is also expected to highlight Pakistan Army’s counterinsurgency operations and improved security environment in the country as well as in the region.

The annual WEF meetings will start from November 17 and continue for four days.

The summit will be attended by several world leaders, politicians, leading businesspersons, social workers and media personalities.

  1. What Nawaz will do in WEF? Pakistani economy is an extension of Chinese Economy. Pakistani should be participating in WEF under the aegis of China and not as a distinct Country.
