Federal public complaint resolution mechanisms to set up by February

A meeting chaired by Senior Law Advisor (Law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar was held in Wafaqi Mohtasib for the resolution of public complaints within 15 days along with senior representatives from all federal ministries.

Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar said that all federal departments must establish a mechanism for the resolution of public complaints within 15 days by the end of January as per earlier instructions issued by the secretariat ombudsman.

He further said that heads of all ministries, divisions, attached departments, subordinate offices, statutory bodies, and organisations must allocate one hour every day for the redressal of public issues, during which any ordinary person can meet the head without a prior appointment.

He also advised all agencies to establish an IT link with the website of Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat.

Khokhar said that a helpline will also installed in all federal govt departments for the public. He said that all notifications, brochures, SOPs, contacts details, etc of an agency must be printed for public consumption and placed at prominent places in their respective buildings, as well as on the website of that agency.

Khokhar added that an agency’s complaint cell should be housed in a separate place in every government building where the complainants could easily reach.
