West Indies rejects proposal to tour Pakistan

West Indies’ proposed tour to Pakistan for two T20Is in mid-March is off the table, multiple sources have confirmed to ESPNcricinfo.

The decision came after a report issued by Federation of International Cricket Association (FICA), which stated that Pakistan, where no major Test playing nation has travelled after the Sri Lankan team attack in 2009, is still not safe for international cricket.

It is also understood that FICA earlier this week presented a report to West Indies Players Association, where they gave the latest security advisory from its security consultants, Eastern Star International, who provide security for various international boards including the England Cricket Board, Cricket Australia, New Zealand Cricket and International Cricket Council.

The news comes as a major blow to PCB’s efforts of hosting a major team at home, whereas the news has also cast doubts over participation of the foreign players in the final of the second edition of the Pakistan Super League, which is set to take place in Lahore on March 5.
