Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin paid surprise visits to various eateries, restaurants and food manufacturing factories in Multan on Friday. He ordered the Rehmat Food and Oil factory and combination restaurant to be sealed, as well as a fine of one lakh rupees to Shangrila Bakers and Restaurant over unhygienic conditions.
Bilal Yasin ordered the arrest of the owner of a factory in which nimko and chips were being prepared using unhealthy oil. The ingredients and products being used were expired and the owners were running this business without registration from the food department.
The minister also paid visits to Pizza hut, Gilghisht and Gloria Jean’s restaurants and also issued notices to them to improve cleanliness at their premises.
The minister also visited SM Food factory situated at Jail Road Multan.
While talking to the media, Bilal Yasin said that the Punjab government would not allow to anyone to play with the lives and health of the public. He said that those involved in selling unhygienic and expired food items will be dealt with severely. He appreciated the working of the Punjab Food Authority and said that the Punjab government will soon establish offices of the food authority in 17 districts of the province.
Bilal Yasin said that the food department will register all food manufacturing factories across the province. Deputy Commissioner Multan Nadir Chattha, Deputy Director Food Authority Ijaz Nawaz and other officials accompanied the minister.
