Pakistani singer Bilal Saeed fled Lahore High Court on Wednesday after the rejection of his interim bail application in connection with a Rs60 million heist case.
Police have launched an investigation to catch the singer. He escaped the scene along with his other accomplices due to lax security.
Earlier last month, a Lahore court had dismissed his pre-arrest bail application after he failed to show up for a hearing.
He had later appeared before Lahore High Court and remained on interim bail to date. The singer had also been attacked by unidentified men outside the court.
Saeed’s legal woes started after Rukhsana Bibi, the mother of his alleged girlfriend Nosheen, approached police following a robbery at her Raiwind house. She accused Saeed and his friends of depriving her of £400, AED 2,000, 16 watches and gold ornaments weighing over 1,760 grammes.
Saeed has time and again asserted that he has been framed in a false case to mar his reputation. The singer, who has hits like Mahi Mahi and 12 Saal to his credit, enjoys an enviable fan following across the Punjab and the South Asian diaspora. He has also lent his voice to a song in Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho, titled Teri Khair Mangdi.
