Police failed to recover human rights activist professor Salman Haider, who went missing in Islamabad on Friday.
Salman Haider, a professor at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), is popular for his Urdu poetry.
According to his family members, Salman Haider went missing from Bani Gala on Friday night and his car was recovered by the police from Koral Chowk.
A text message sent from Salman Haider’s phone to his wife said the car should be taken from Koral Chowk.
The poet suffers from allergy for which he requires regular medication to stay alive making his speedy rescue even more urgent, said the activist’s brother Zeeshan Haider.
An FIR of the incident has been lodged at Lohi Bher police station and police are investigating it as a possible kidnapping; however, they have failed to recover him so far.
Yesterday, Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan directed the Islamabad Police to speed up efforts for the professor’s recovery. –
