IG Khawaja orders speedy, efficient crackdown against criminals

Sindh Police Inspector General A D Khawja in directives issued on Tuesday has asked all deputy inspector generals (DIGs) to speed up the crackdown against criminals in their respective jurisdictions.

This crackdown, particularly aimed at the eradication of street crimes in Karachi, must be based on proper analysis of the crimes, their timing, and modus operandi of the criminals, he said.

IG A D Khawaja urged the DIGs from Karachi to improve the efficiency of snap checking, picketing and patrolling.

“There must be absolute coordination and efficiency in the ongoing crackdown at every level,” reiterated the police chief.

A D Khawaja said that these measures must be further complimented with fool proof investigations against those nominated in crime related cases so that the culprits receive their due punishment. He further directed that details of absconders, arrested, and non-arrested individuals nominated in cases and required by the police, must also be regularly shared by senior officials in the department.

The IG said that efforts must also be made to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect between the public and the police.

“For this purpose, coupled with measures to maintain law and order, due care must be taken that no inconvenience is caused to law abiding citizens. Those approaching police stations to register their complaints ought to be facilitated,” said the police chief.

These steps will help improve the process of intelligence collection against criminals, ultimately enabling the police department to counter criminal activity, Khawaja said.
