The four-day anti-polio drive to administer oral polio vaccination (OPV) drops to children under the age of five successfully concluded here on Thursday.
Larkana District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Abdul Fateh Bughio told newsmen on Friday, that 758 mobile teams had made house-to-house visits to administered polio drops to children.
He said that during the campaign more than 306,850 children had been given anti-polio drops.
He further said that the mobile teams also visited remote and far-flung areas throughout the district to administer OPVs to the children.
There were also 49 fixed vaccinations centres and eight transit points in Larkana, Dokri, Ratodero, and Bakrani for this purpose.
DHO Larkana regretted that a negative propaganda campaign had been launched against oral polio vaccines.
He said that the polio eradication drive was at a decisive point in the entire district of Larkana and that therefore a coordinated strategy by the authorities, donor agencies, and health professionals is required.
He urged parents to administer polio drops to their children in every anti-polio drive in order to ensure a complete eradication of the polio virus.
