ACE conducts raids, arrests several govt officers for corruption 

 

On the orders of Punjab Director General Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, authorities conducted raids in Okara, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah and arrested Chiniot district officers’ roads, land record centre SCO, mines inspector and two patwaris and sent them to jail on judicial remand.

According to the details, Okara Anti-Corruption Circle Officer Abdul Ghaffar Khan conducted a raid under the supervision of Magistrate Tariq Mehmood and arrested District Officer (Roads) Azhar Latif red handed while taking Rs.3,00,000 from a contractor and recovered the amount of bribe.

Separately, Layyah anti-corruption authorities arrested a Patwari of Patwar Circle 163 TDA Muhammad Shakeel while taking Rs.5000/- as gratification from a local resident.

Rajanpur’s Anti-Corruption Establishment also carried out a raid, at Lands Record Centre, and arrested Service Centre Officer Imran and another official Hafeez while they were taking bribe worth Rs.15000/- from a local. A case was registered against both the accused and they were sent to jail on judicial remand.

DG Khan anti-corruption authorities arrested Patwari Abdul Ghafoor and his munshi while taking Rs.3000 as gratification. They were also sent to jail on judicial remand after registration of a case against them, while in Chiniot Mines Inspector Zaheer Ahmad was arrested when he was taking Rs.10.000/- as bribe from a contractor.

Supreme Court dismissed a post-arrest bail plea of Allied Citizen Community Board Chairman Muhammad Jafar Bhatti who was allegedly involved in corruption of Rs3.4 Million.
