83 recommendations incorporated in Finance Bill 2016, senate body informed

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance was informed Wednesday that 83 recommendations were in the process of implementation out of total 86 proposals accepted for incorporation in the Finance Bill 2016.

The meeting of the committee was held here under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala, which among others was attended by Senators Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani.

Senior officials from Finance Ministry, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, Higher Education Commission, and chamber representatives were also present on the occasion.

The representatives of Finance Ministry informed the senate body that the committee had made 139 recommendations, out of which 86 were accepted for incorporation in the finance bill, adding that 83 were either implemented or partially implemented or are in the process of implementation.

For the implementation of remaining three recommendations, the concerned quarters are yet to provide their feedback, they added.

Meanwhile, the senate body deferred for two weeks the considerations on the Private Member Bill titled the Partnership (Amendment Bill 2016), introduced on September 26 by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati.

Taking part in the discussion on the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Bill 2016, Senator Swati lauded the government for introducing this landmark bill which he said would help eradicate corruption in the country.

On the occasion, Senator Hassani demanded the details of funds released for building various dams in the Balochistan province and the list of candidates who have been provided scholarships through Higher Education Commission for promotion of education in the province.
