Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Monday (today) discharged IG Sindh Police A. D Khawaja of all duties and sent him on forced leave for 15-days.

The federal government has refused to remove the IG from his position, the sources informed.

Sources claimed that all responsibilities of AD Khawaja were handed over to Additional IG Mushtaq Meher. However, the AIG denied any such move had taken place and stated that no notification had been issued regarding the matter.

They revealed that the IG’s imminent removal is likely due to several issues, including the Pakistan People’s Party’s desire to appoint Rao Anwar as SSP Malir as well as the subject of police recruitment in the province.

A D Khawaja was appointed IG Sindh Police in March of this year, after the Supreme Court of Pakistan, had ordered the government remove former IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali.
