Pakistan’s national poet-philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal has been honoured in Turkey for “Service to Islam.”
Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism Nabi Avci presented the ‘Dost Award’ to Allama Iqbal’s grandson, Walid Iqbal at a ceremony in Konya, Turkey.

The ceremony in Konya was attended by Ambassador for Pakistan in Turkey, Sohail Mahmood, Turkish Culture Minister, Governor of Konya Region and Mayor of Konya among others, according to Radio Pakistan.
“Through this award, we honour late Muhammad Iqbal for his contributions to the cause of Muslim political thought, which still inspires people in the entire world,” the minister said addressing the gathering.
“Being awarded in Rumi’s Konya is a great honour for Iqbal’s spirit, for his family, and for the people of Pakistan,” Waleed Iqbal said in his acceptance speech.
