Traditional handloom work training programme to start today

Lok Virsa is organising a week-long training programme for children on “Traditional Handloom Work” under the ongoing ‘Craft of the Month’ series from December 19 to 25.
“The programme aims at promoting traditional skills, giving knowledge to younger generation, specially children about the importance and utility of different crafts and providing opportunity to them to learn about Pakistan’s rich, diverse and pluralistic cultural tapestry”, an official of Lok Virsa said.
He said it also encourageed children to value dignity of labour, fostered ownership for their culture, created respect for different professions and character building, adding that it helped understand the contribution of artisans in the sustainable development of their community and country at large.
Master artisans from different areas will give hands on training to children (age: 6 – 14 years) for a week from 10 am to 5 pm at Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, Shakarparian.
