2 killed, over 10 injured after oil tanker catches fire

At least two persons were killed and over 10 others received burn injuries when an oil tanker caught fire near Nooriabad on the Super Highway.

According to police and Edhi sources, seven injured reached a local hospital by themselves for treatment while several people who received burn injuries were transferred to a hospital in Karachi.

The police said the tanker was carrying 44,000 litres of oil which was burnt. The fire spread to four nearby vehicles including a police mobile. The accident occurred when brakes of the tanker failed and it began moving in reverse direction, the police added.

An official of Edhi ambulance service said that the Edhi ambulance transported two bodies to the Edhi Home.

Eight of the injured were taken to the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital, Karachi.
