Zardari to address martyrdom anniversary of Benazir Bhutto

Former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is expected to return to Pakistan before 27th December and give an address on the martyrdom anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, according to Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, a senior leader of the PPP and former chief minister of Punjab.

He castigated the PML-N government for its corruption-tainted character and continuous corrupt practices, adding that the people of Pakistan would not vote for the PML-N in the 2108 general elections irrespective of the decision on Panama Papers case and that the PPP would once again emerge as the biggest political party of Pakistan and win the next elections.

The former chief minister also said that the PPP-led group would win elections in the municipal committee Haveli Lakha. “Our strength is 14 members in the municipal committee while our rivals have 11 members”, he said.

He said that the nomination papers of two of the PPP’s panels have been accepted and after deliberations, the PPP will finalise which panel will contest the elections.

“Usually local body elections favour the ruling party, which is why the PPP’s majority in Renala Khurd despite the PML-N having an MPA from the same locality is a telling sign,” Wattoo said.

He maintained that although Pir Sahiban has a majority in Hujra Shah Muqeem, the PPP was competing and giving the PML-N a tough fight.
