Islamabad Capital Territory’s (ICT) administration on Friday conducted raids in different hotels in the capital to check food quality and other general standards.
As per directions of the interior minister, a team headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Abdul Sattar conducted the raids. The other members of team were Assistant Commissioners Kamran Cheema, Hassan Waqar Cheema, Ali Asghar and officials of district health department.
During raids in posh hotels, the team took action over poor sanitation, expired goods and lack of procedural security measures.
Ramada Hotel Club Road was fined Rs. 0.2 million over expired food items and not renewing emergency equipment. Besides fines, the hotel administration was also issued a court notice.
The team sealed kitchen and bakery of Margalla Hotel for hiring workers at low wages, poor sanitation and not adopting protective measures regarding gas cylinders.
The court summon was also issued to hotel administration for supplying water to kitchen from tank which was filled with dirt.
Similarly, action was taken against Continental Hotel, Blue Area over messy kitchen and violation of labour laws.
The hotel kitchen was sealed for not taking steps to deal with fire incident. Continental Hotel was fined Rs. 0.2 million while a court notice was also issued.
