ADC directs to form female teams for anti-polio campaign

Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Tahir on Friday directed to form female teams for administering polio drops to children up to five years in the district during upcoming anti-polio campaign.

He was chairing a meeting to review arrangements for campaign to be started from December 19 to 22. The ADC asked the officers concerned to engage women staff of Population Welfare Department in remote areas for polio immunization process so that the set target of vaccination could be achieved.

Muhammad Usman said that any negligence would not be tolerated and action should be taken against those who would be found guilty of negligence in duty during the vaccination campaign.

District Focal Person Dr Fida Hussain Memon informed the meeting that total 728 polio teams have been formed to immunize 29,5883 children under the age of five years, out of which 625 mobile teams, 65 fixed point and 38 transit point teams would be functional in the district during anti-polio campaign.

He told that 65 team support centres had so far been established to immunise the children. World Health Organization Polio Eradication Officer Dr Sajid Ali Leghari, District Support Manager PPHI Imdad Ali Leghari, assistant commissioners of all Talukas of the district, officers of Health, Revenue and municipal committees and representatives of the non-governmental organizations attended the meeting.
